Intensive Paediatric Physiotherapy
Intensive Paediatric Physiotherapy is usually a 60 hr program over 3 weeks. With traditional therapy, 60 hrs would normally be delivered over 25 weeks (avg. 2 hours per week) or 6 months. Children require repetition to learn new tasks; Children with special needs require many more repetitions to learn the same task, often thousands compared to hundreds of repetitions. Intensive Therapy helps to accomplish this goal.
First step- A DYNAMIC FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM:
First Step use of combined Suit Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and UEU with Intensive Paediatric physiotherapy consists of 4 hours of Physical & Occupational Therapy a day, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. This intensity results in better functional improvement when compared with traditional therapeutic methods.
First Step program is designed for Children & Adults with neuromuscular disorders performed on a one-to-one basis by a skilled professional. The intense program focuses on strength & flexibility with the use of Suit therapy, Respiratory Therapy, universal exercise unit, the spider and progressive resistance exercises. This intense program is ideal for those who want to enhance & improve the child's developmental & functional abilities (ex: mobility, balance & coordination, gait, etc.).
