Ganglion
A ganglion cyst (also known as a wrist cyst, Bible cyst, or
dorsal tendon cyst) is a bump or mass that forms under the skin.
Most commonly, ganglions are seen on the wrist (usually the
back side) and fingers, but they can also develop around joints
on the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip, ankle and foot. Ganglia are
often painless; however, they may cause pain with movement or
mechanical problems like limitation of movements. The cause
of ganglion cysts isn't known but ganglion may form after local
trauma or repeated stress to the joints. They usually grow out
of a joint or the sheath surrounding a tendon. |
